In the midst of what is going to be the worst oil spill in U.S. history, the powers that be have deemed it appropriate to INCREASE the number of rigs we have exploring for oil and natural gas. This week the number jumped by 12 to 1,518 rigs.
"Houston-based Baker Hughes Inc. said Friday that 969 rigs were exploring for natural gas and 538 for oil. Eleven were listed as miscellaneous. A year ago this week, the rig count stood at 900."
