Fleets of Toyota Prius and Ford Escape hybrid taxis in Vancouver, San Francisco, and New York City have reliably been in service for more than 200,000 miles. The first generation Toyota and Honda hybrids were introduced more than a decade ago and there are definitely thousands of satisfied hybrid owners. So the misconception that they are not as reliable as traditional gas-powered vehicles just does not hold water.

Another misconception of gas-electric hybrid vehicles is that they are expensive to maintain. With the exception of the hybrid's battery system, there is some crossover in parts between hybrids and gas-powered vehicles. Hybrid batteries are typically covered by at least an eight-year warranty. The replacement cost for new nickel-metal hydride Prius batteries keeps dropping, but a new battery pack still costs around $2,000.

I got rid of my 4 wood about a year ago in favor of a 17 hybrid. Its been a great change for me. It probably has as much to do with the shorter shaft than anything, but I can control the hybrid much better. Off the tee, they were close in performance, but off the deck the hybrid performance was significantly better.

Yahoo has a group listed as Honda_Civic_Hybrid. There is another group that
