Chrysler LLC announced that it has chosen A123Systems as its production battery supplier for the company's first production electric vehicles. Chrysler and A123 have signed an agreement under which A123 will supply energy storage systems for Chrysler's first-generation ENVI Range-extended Electric Vehicles and battery only Electric Vehicles. This news comes after GM dropped its plans to use A123 as its battery supplier earlier this year, a move that put the future of A123 into some question.

Glad to hear- new technology, better rechargeable batteries, "Made in America". That all sounds fantastic.

And, is that not the most generic name a company ever had? I read the explanation on their website about the origin, but really, if you need to explain the name of your company, it just ain't working!!!

Chrysler chose A123 for several reasons; in part because the company was looking for a supplier based in the good ole USofA, and because A123's technology lent itself to relatively simple battery packs.
